Officers of the Court should wear sober colors, female officers - no trousers except tailored suits. Police Officers for juvenile sittings should wear plain clothing.
Litigants (applicant and defendant) of the Court
No T-shirts or shorts, No sleeveless, tank tops, back outs or very short skirts.
No hats or caps, shirts must be placed in their trousers, No T-shirts or shorts
The setting of the court is in closed camera. This means it is not open to others except to those persons who are parties to that particular case. Persons who are likely to be present in the court are of course the President who is the Presiding Officer, Court Clerk/s, Police Officers, Lawyers who have matters before the court and the Litigants, that is, the applicant and defendant.
Family Court is also held in St. Vincent, Monday – Friday, specific dates are set for courts in Bequia, Canouan and Union Island. The Police Officers in charge of these areas are notified of the court dates. In matters relating to criminal charges the police will notify witnesses.
