Dress Code
Officers of the Court should wear sober colors. Police Officers for juvenile sittings should wear plain clothing.
Litigants (applicant and defendant) of the Court
Women
No T-shirts or shorts, No sleeveless, tank tops, back outs or very short skirts.
Men
No hats or caps, shirts must be placed in their trousers, No T-shirts or shorts
Court Setting
The setting of the court is in camera. This means it is not open to the public except to those persons who are parties to case. Persons who are likely to be present in the court are the President who is the Presiding Officer, Court Clerk/s, Police Officers, Lawyers who have matters before the court and the Litigants, that is, the applicant and defendant.
Court Sittings
Family Court is also held in Saint Vincent, Monday – Friday, specific dates are set for court hearings in Bequia, Canouan and Union Island. The Police Officers in charge of these areas are notified of the court dates in advance. In matters relating to criminal charges the police will notify witnesses.
